WE ARE BEGGARS ALL

This is my journey into the mysteries of the God of the Bible.

"I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well... in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them." Psalm 139:13-16

Things You May Want To Know…
and probably a few things you wish you didn’t.

My name is Matt Brown. My winsome wife, Joy, and I have been married for 8 years. Without her I’d not be the man that I am. She is stunning, loyal, and much smarter than me. We have a busy little girl named Isla Mae; she is strong and determined, blue eyed and beautiful. We also have a mini-schnauzer/Boston terrier mix named Lucy. She was a gift that helped me through some dark days. Never underestimate the power of a dog.
I am trying to follow Jesus, for I believe He is the only path to the God of the Bible. I named this blog Beggars All, because I believe that everything has come to us from Yahweh. We are not our own and nothing we have has come to us by our own strength. I believe in an all sovereign God who ought to be glorified in our delight of Him, but not taken for granted or approached casually.
I do not claim any denomination, but aim to be of one faith with the Saints. I attended Multnomah University for four years, before I traded my Biblical Theology degree for a Bachelors of Science in Human Development from Warner Pacific College.  As a vocational youth minister for five years I found great delight in teaching the Word of God and serving teenagers and young adults.
I write to increase Yahweh’s renown, to work out my own thoughts, and to engage in dialogue with others. I stand by what I publish, but I am still learning. I fully believe that there is no better way to clear up my own thoughts and what I believe than by putting it to paper…or text.
I am a bassist and have toured in several bands.  My passion for music ranges from bebop to punk rock. It is the only thing I know as well as scripture.
I love the culinary arts and it bleeds into almost all that I do. I am an American Tradition Barista in Portland, Oregon.  I am a cigar lover, a bourbon drinker, and an adept barstool philosopher.
I hope that we can journey together and that God will be glorified in it.
Matt
